Multi Mats Will be Back!

After a successful implementation of the multi mat program this past winter we are excited to continue the program this coming off season. Last year we estimated over 200,000 divots were not taken on fairways through the usage of the mats. This year we will be expanding the program to tees and the mats will be required on any tee shot where you would potentially take a divot. We feel this will be a better solution as opposed to the fixed mats on Par 3 tees last season.

The mats will be in play from November thru February. Thank you for your support of this program.

  1. Hi T-Jay. Glad to hear that mats will be used this year where ever you would make a divot from tee to green.
A few other thoughts from people I played with last year: 1. It seemed the mats were pulled too early? The day time highs were not even 10 degrees by then, so the divots built up fast and did not start growing back in for some time. 2. It might make sense for members to pay a refundable deposit at the start of the mat season? I understand that a number disappeared, in some cases when guests or green fee players forgot to take them out of their bags at the end of the rounds.

  2. Hi Bill,

I am glad you are in support of that mats as myself and many other members are. I agree that agronomically we could have kept on the mats longer with the cool spring of 2022 but, we are also balancing the feelings of other golfers including green fee players that may not be in support of the mats. Not everyone is a fan and if we can strike a compromise in that the worst months of the year will be on mats, we are still saving over 200,000 divots that would be taken in those 4 months between November and the end of February.

We do make the purple mats available for purchase in the Golf Shop for those members that wish to purchase their own and then can keep them in their bags. While we did have good support of that purchase program last year, as we now continue the program, I expect that more will people will be looking to purchase their own and alleviate the pressure on our "lend out" mat supply.

Thank you again for your comments and support of the program. I feel it will continue to be a program that helps improve the conditions of our course through the winter months and into the spring.

    T-Jay
